So last Friday night when it was snowing everywhere else in Mississippi but here, we decided to brave the freezing rain to get out and enjoy an evening Christmas parade. There was even supposed to be a lighted boat parade later in the evening. We thought we might drive around to look at Christmas lights as well and make it a fun filled family night.
Well, either we were late, which is a good possibility, or this parade only had 3 entries in this particular order: Santa on a sleigh with several children, a boy scout troop, and a dance company. The first two sets walked by us about 90 mph but the dancing girls did stop in front of us and put on a performance. We kept looking down the road to see if there was anything else coming, but much to our avail, that was it. Not much of a parade.
There were booths set up and food vendors and such and even a "band" playing complete with fires in barrels... Noah really liked the fires. By now the rain was coming down harder and we had over an hour to wait for the boat parade and seeing as we were freezing, we thought we should head on home, especially if the boat parade was anything like the street parade...
It was an experience, for sure. Maybe the Southeast Tourism Society would like my opinion before they name this one of the top 20 events in the Southeast for Fall 2010.
